IP Audio Driver GPIO to Keystroke?

Is there an existing way to have an IP Audio Driver GPIO fire a keyboard command, or run a script? I've got an older program that I want to start when the operator hits the "ON" button on the console. The program itself doesn't support any control other than keyboard shortcuts.
I suppose I could hack apart a keyboard and connect it to a physical GPIO port, but since its already on the network with the IP Audio Driver, I was hoping to accomplish it with software.
