LAWO Plugin Server Offers SurCode™ for Dolby® E
Lawo chooses MASI to complete Dolby E Workflow
Las Vegas, NV – April 14th, 2008 – In a common development effort, Lawo, Dolby and Minnetonka Audio Software, Inc. (MASI) announce the new Lawo SurCode for Dolby E Real-Time Decoder plug-in that operates in the new Lawo Plugin Server. A Dolby E Encoder module will follow later this year.
The Lawo SurCode for Dolby E plug-in functions as a VST plug-in that is controlled by a graphical user interface allowing for full control and recall on the fly, completely integrated into the Lawo production environment. The unique real-time integration allows one or more instances of the Dolby E Decoder on the Lawo Plugin Server to be used in combination with existing Dolby E hardware products.
“With the Dolby E Decoder Plugin we break new ground with regard to Dolby decoding. It provides our customers with several decoding processors in one tool. The enormous benefit of the Plugin Server is, of course, its flexible handling. MASI was clearly best choice as a partner for this project,” says Felix Krueckels,” Product Manager of the mc2-series.
The Lawo Plugin Server is designed as a virtual effects rack and can therefore be operated with as much ease as when using a digital workstation. At the same time Lawo SurCode for Dolby E has been designed for full compatibility and interoperability with Dolby E hardware equipment. Lawo SurCode for Dolby E licenses are stored on an USB License key allowing for additional plugin instances or moving licenses from one studio to another in the most flexible way.
