Minnetonka Audio Ups SurCode for Dolby E Decoder

Company updates plug–in with improved UI, confidence monitoring and workflow

MINNETONKA, MN -- Minnetonka Audio Software, Inc., a leader in production software for consumer electronics, motion picture and broadcast surround sound applications, today announced the release of a new version 1.6 of their SurCode for Dolby E Decoder software product. The decoder family is certified to run on Pro Tools, AudioTools AWE, and VST hosts.

SurCode for Dolby E Decoder is set of cross–platform plug–ins for surround–capable versions of many digital audio workstations. SurCode for Dolby E Decoder offers the ability to decode Dolby E files and streams, converting them back to discrete linear PCM in the familiar software plug–in format. SurCode for Dolby E Decoder easily integrates the Dolby E format into existing workflows on multiple audio workstations.

Along with maintenance fixes and improvements, version 1.6 adds support for Minnetonka Audio’s AudioTools AWE in addition to Pro Tools, Nuendo, Fairlight and Pyramix. The new Decoder version debuts the ability to transmit metadata through the host computer’s serial interface.

Another new feature in this release is a tally light showing when decoding is in progress. A simple green or red state indicates either a valid Dolby E stream or one or more decoding errors. When errors do occur, a popup readout displays the global error count, along with how many errors occurred in each of three categories; Sync & Framing, Metadata and Decoding. The numbers of metadata warnings are also displayed.
