Dolby® Media Meter 2 is a software tool that measures loudness in programming for broadcast, packaged media, cinema trailers, VOD, and games. Differences in audio levels between programs and channels or between programs and commercials cause major annoyances to TV viewers. These differences have proven much easier to hear than to measure. Dolby Media Meter 2 joins the Dolby lineup of unique and innovative tools that solve the measurement problems—accurately and objectively measuring loudness as viewers subjectively experience it. Dolby Media Meter 2 features Dialogue Intelligence™ technology, adapted from the award-winning Dolby DP600 Program Optimizer. Dialogue Intelligence automatically detects speech in the audio track and only then measures loudness. Dolby Media Meter 2 supports ITU-R BS.1770 and the EBU R-128 loudness measurement specifications. Measurements can be done with or without Dialogue Intelligence.

Used as a stand-alone product or a Digidesign AudioSuite plug-in, Dolby Media Meter 2 offers faster-than-real-time, file-based measurement (speed is hardware-dependent). This is useful for DVD and Blu-ray Disc™ mastering, and for program creation and quality control applications in audio production, postproduction, and broadcast facilities.
As a Pro Tools RTAS or VST plug-in, Dolby Media Meter 2 measures loudness in real time, allowing you to track levels during the mixing process to help meet network delivery requirements. Real-time versions can simultaneously display short- and long-term loudness levels with or without Dialogue Intelligence.
